"I like to think of myself as a Bridge,
connecting East to West: alternative holistic healing, spirituality & wisdom to traditional mental health therapy and the science & psychology of human behavior."
Western Education
I began my training at the University of North Dakota, in Grand Forks, ND, where I studied psychology and registered for every psychology course offered in this field of study. I am fascinated by human behavior, specifically what motivates us to do the things we do and how we think, feel, and perceive things differently than any other person in the world. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 2001, which built a solid foundation of education and knowledge in the areas of human development, educational psychology, clinical science, and biological and physiological psychology.
In 2005, I attended graduate school at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, OR and earned a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology, specializing in Marriage and Family Therapy. My 3-year program consisted of the following coursework: the practice of marital and family therapy; assessing, hypothesizing, and diagnosing; designing and conducting treatment; evaluating ongoing process and terminating treatment; and maintaining ethical, legal, and professional standards. In addition to this coursework, I was required to complete 500 practicum hours and 1,000 internship hours of direct client contact, making it one of the more innovative, competitive, and stringent counseling programs in the country.
During my internship, I gained strong skills and experience practicing the following therapies: expressive arts therapies, cognitive-behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, narrative brief therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, structural family therapy, strategic family therapy, and emotion-focused therapy.

My transformation from mental health practitioner to Certified Therapeutic Coach® began after reading an ad for the Meta Institute: School of Therapeutic Coaching®. This exact moment became a game-changer for me. I had reached a plateau in my career and was experiencing a hazy fog, regarding my life's purpose, and having trouble finding my way, on what seemed a dark and winding road. What I discovered...

"It's always darkest before dawn, confusion before the moment of absolute clarity, and what we attract to ourselves is reflective of the energy, intentions, and thoughts we put out into the world around us."
In 2010, I enrolled in Meta Institute's Therapeutic Coaching® program, an innovative, cutting-edge program, ahead of its time in many ways, as very few, if any, coaching programs in the world, compare to the depth of study, length of study, and nature of study. The Therapeutic Coaching® program consisted of 15 months/500 hours of intensive, integrative study of skills and techniques in hypnosis, systems theory, quantum physics, neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), past life healing, gestalt-based techniques, motivational coaching, learning styles, professional development, couples communication coaching, and emotional intelligence.
The Meta Institute was co-founded in New York City in 1995 by Mirtha Solis, MSW, Certified Trainer of NLP and Hypnosis, and Reiki Master/Teacher. In 1996, the Meta Institute moved to the Twin Cities and after 21 years of training thousands of students in the most transformational techniques available, closed in 2017. The Meta Institute was approved by the following: The American Board of Neuro-Linguistic Programming, The American Board of Hypnotherapy, and the International Network of Humanistic Neuro-Linguistic Programming. The Meta Institute was licensed by Minnesota Office of Higher Education.
